Since the year isn’t over, we are still running! Our trip up to Washington’s Crossing for the Bucks County Marathon was a really good one. We were very lucky with the weather. It was cold but not bitter when we started. The later 9:00 a.m. start gave us a little time to warm up before we began with about 100 other registered runners.

The Canal tow path is nice and flat and looked beautiful with all the leaves changing colors. It was muddy at times from the rain the day before, but that was only challenge on the course. We started off pretty steady and quickly got into a comfortable pace. We got to talking to a fellow runner who is part of the Bucks County Roadrunners club for several miles. He was telling us about the recent storms that impacted the canal path.

The course was two 6.55 out and back loops and when we were just finishing the first 13.1 miles the legs started to feel the Virtual MCM Marathon we did just two week before. It really is an ideal course for someone who really wants to try and get a personal best, and when you get going it’s a hard mental fight not to just put it all out there and see what you can do.

If this was our only marathon for the year then we could have pushed it really hard and got an amazing time. Of course, this is number 11 for us and the second half of the marathon we could feel it.  We checked ourselves and kept a comfortable pace as knew we had one more to do in December. Maybe we’ll be back in a year or two to try to see what we can do when we are better rested.

For those in search of a Marathon to get a PR or qualify for Boston, you should definitely give this one some consideration!

We are now looking forward to some reflection and time with family as we give thanks for all the blessings we have as we head into the Thanksgiving holiday.
We are super thankful for all those who have supported and donated to our cause for an aging veterans Village. We appreciate all support. Make a donation today to help us reach our goal!

Another way everyone can help this holiday shopping season is to select Hero’s Bridge as your Amazon Smile Charity of choice when you do online Amazon shopping.
