Rep. Wexton has submitted funding requests for important community projects in Virginia-10 to the House Appropriations Committee.

Under guidelines issued by the Appropriations Committee, each Representative may request funding for up to 15 projects in their community for fiscal year 2024 – although only a handful may actually be funded. Projects are restricted to a limited number of federal funding streams, and only state and local governments and eligible non-profit entities are permitted to receive funding. Additional information on the reforms governing Community Project Funding is available here.

In compliance with House Rules and Committee requirements, Rep. Wexton has certified that she, her spouse, and her immediate family have no financial interest in any of the projects she has requested.

Project Name: Hero’s Bridge Village
Amount of Request: $1,500,000
Recipient: Hero’s Bridge, 341 Church Street, Warrenton, VA 20186

Description of Request:
This project will fund permitting, site work, and construction of 46 cottages to address the severe need for affordable housing and permanent supportive services for aging veterans in Fauquier County, Virginia and the surrounding region.

Why Request is Good Use of Taxpayer Funds:
Virginia’s 10th District is experiencing an affordable housing crisis, especially for seniors on fixed incomes. The 46 units of housing designed to support the needs of aging veterans will address this need. Many veterans call this area their home, but as they age, trying to sustain big, unwieldy houses can be what tips the scales from independence to dependence.
