As Hero’s Bridge continues to grow, we find that Veterans Day has become Veterans Month…and that is fine with us!
We began our Veterans Month this year by displaying our Guardians of Freedom portraits at a local high school and coordinated a Pinning Ceremony for veterans at Poet’s Walk Memory Care.
On November 10, the Marine Corps’ birthday, we celebrated with veterans at Fats Warrenton.
Hero’s Bridge was the beneficiary of a Golf Tournament organized by the Ancient Order of Hibernians, attended an annual ceremony at our local Veterans Memorial at Hospital Hill, participated in a ceremony at the proposed site of the Hero’s Bridge Village and enjoyed lunch afterward, and attended the awards ceremony for the golf tournament. Meanwhile, our veterans attended a middle school in Madison County and gave a talk to High School students in nearby Culpeper.
Following Veterans Day, the Guardians of Freedom were relocated to veteran-owned Heroic Axe and restaurant, Denim and Pearls on Main Street, Warrenton.
The week concluded with a Friendsgiving celebration with volunteers and veterans at the Moose Lodge of Warrenton.
We look forward to celebrating the holidays and the new year bringing comfort and joy to aging veterans!
