As the year winds down and the days grow shorter, I find myself thinking about the quiet moments of connection that define what Hero’s Bridge is really about, a phone call that brightens a veteran’s day, a warm meal delivered, a friendly knock at the door, or simply knowing someone cares enough to check in.
This year, because of you, hundreds of older veterans felt less alone. Volunteers showed up in all kinds of weather, donors gave generously, and supporters shared our mission with friends and family. Together, you created something powerful: a community where aging veterans are seen, honored, and supported.
December also invites us to look forward. One of the most meaningful steps we are taking toward the future is Hero’s Bridge Village, a place where older veterans will have safe, affordable housing paired with the connection and support they deserve. The Village represents everything we believe in: dignity, community, and the promise that no veteran should age alone. Thanks to your belief in this vision, we continue moving closer to making it a reality. As we step into 2025, it is shaping up to be a pivotal year, one where long-held Village plans begin turning into visible progress, and where the impact of your support will be felt in lasting ways.
For many of the veterans we serve, the holidays can be a lonely time. Your continued support ensures that companionship, dignity, and hope don’t take a season off. As we look ahead to a new year, I’m filled with gratitude for our volunteers, our donors, our partners, and most of all, the veterans who trust us to walk alongside them. Thank you for being part of this mission and for helping build both the bridges and the Village that will serve veterans for years to come.
From my heart to yours, I wish you peace, warmth, and moments of joy this holiday season.
