Vietnam Veteran Roy Morris didn’t finish high school — moving and adjusting to a new school every school took its toll and he dropped out. While playing bass professionally in a band, he saw some older people top 40 in a club.

“I didn’t want that to be me,” says Roy, who decided to join the Air Force. “It gave me that education and taught me technical skills. It even showed me the world,” he adds.

Roy was 22 years old when he was sent to Thailand during the Vietnam War. After a year in Bangkok, he came home and not long after was sent to Cam Ranh Bay in Vietnam for another year, where he served as a crew chief who maintained C-4 Caribou Aircraft.
