As our nation celebrates 250 years of freedom next month, we are reminded that this milestone did not happen by chance. Every freedom we enjoy today has been protected by generations of brave men and women who answered the call to serve. Their sacrifices, both seen and unseen, have shaped our country and safeguarded the liberties we often take for granted. That is why Hero’s Bridge exists. They fought for us. Now, it is our turn to fight for them.
Every day, alongside our incredible volunteers and supporters, we work to make a measurable difference in the lives of aging veterans. This month’s Portraits, Paws & Mini Horses Social was a beautiful reminder that meaningful moments of connection can have a lasting impact. Whether through our Paw Patrol program, where the comfort and companionship of animals bring joy and healing to veterans, or through our Guardians of Freedom program, which preserves and honors the stories of those who served through timeless portraits, we continue finding new ways to ensure our heroes know they are remembered and valued.
Since Hero’s Bridge began, we have made more than 11,000 veteran visits, and our volunteers have contributed over 12,000 hours serving those who once served us. Behind every visit, every volunteer hour, and every program is a veteran whose life has been made a little brighter, a little easier, and a little less lonely. I encourage you to explore our Impact section below for a more complete picture of what your support has made possible.
Yet, our mission is far from complete. Too many aging veterans continue to go unnoticed in everyday life. As we recognized PTSD Awareness Day on June 27, we remember that many veterans continue to carry unseen wounds long after their military service has ended.
It is because of your generosity, through volunteering, donating, advocating, and so much more, that Hero’s Bridge can continue providing aging veterans with the gratitude, dignity, and support they have earned.
Here’s to the next 250 years of freedom… because of the veterans who have served our nation. Read the full newsletter.
